She also made a stunning appearance on the red carpet, wearing a black Versace halter neck dress worth millions of rands, accessorized with $230,000 worth of Jared Atelier natural diamonds.

 

Tyla accepted her “Best New Artist” trophy with a heartfelt speech, dedicating her win to Africa and thanking her team, family, and BET for pushing the culture. “This is crazy,” she said, overwhelmed with emotion. “Firstly, I love Sexy Red. Oh my gosh. I can’t. I love her so much. This is such a gift to be here. I just want to dedicate this one to Africa. I want to dedicate this one to all the African superstars before me who didn’t get these opportunities I am getting. It’s just amazing. Africa to the world, guys!”

 

Tyla was also a winner in the “International Act” category, beating fellow South African Focalistic and other nominees from around the world. She thanked her fans, team, and family again, saying “Guys, I did not prepare anything, but I just want to say thank you so much to my Tygas, my family, my team. Thank you to BET for always pushing the culture. Come on!”

 

In addition to her wins, Tyla also performed her hit song “Jump” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng, bringing the house down with her energetic performance.
