Organized by Milano Lifestyle, the Up in the North ‘Straata Edition’ event in Alexandra promises to be a dynamic celebration of hip-hop culture, music, arts, and lifestyle.
Event organizer, Nhlanhla Ntuli, shares that the inspiration behind the event stems from a desire to reignite the essence of hip-hop within the township, recognizing a recent decline despite a plethora of hip-hop creatives in the vicinity.
“Hip-hop culture has historically served as a potent vehicle for addressing social issues and showcasing artistic prowess,” notes Ntuli. “From graffiti-inspired art forms to fashion trends and street art, hip-hop’s influence is undeniable.”
The Up in the North event aims to amplify these influences and serve as a platform for artists to express their creativity and share their narratives.
“We stand as pioneers in our community, committed to nurturing and expanding the spirit of hip-hop,” affirms Ntuli. “Our goal is to inspire emerging artists to break free from their comfort zones and cultivate their craft as a viable business venture.”
