Slim Thug Claims He’s Made More Money from Mixtapes Than Any Artist in History
In an interview with The Art of Dialogue, Slim Thug confidently stated that he’s made more money from mixtapes than any artist in history. He credited Michael “5000” Watts, co-founder of Swishahouse Records, for teaching him how to sell tapes.
Slim Thug asserted that his mixtape hustle has been more profitable than his peers, including DJ Drama, who he claimed would give away tapes for free. He boasted that his wholesale price was $8 and that he’s been doing it for 25 years.
This isn’t the first time Slim Thug has flexed his hustling skills. In a 2016 interview with Forbes, he detailed how he adjusted his strategy to stay relevant and successful despite changes in the music industry.
While it’s hard to fact-check his claim, Slim Thug’s business acumen is undeniable. He’s had a successful career spanning over two decades, with 20 mixtapes, 6 collaboration albums, and 15 studio albums under his belt.”
