DJ Quik Gets Emotional Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” Show
Legendary DJ Quik was moved to tears by Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” concert on Juneteenth, even though he wasn’t there in person. The G-funk pioneer praised K. Dot’s unity-filled show, but admitted it was bittersweet as he was stuck in Canada with Snoop Dogg and Problem on tour.
Quik tried to charter a jet back to LA but logistics got in the way. Instead, he watched the show online, feeling the FOMO (fear of missing out) hard. “I cried myself to sleep that night…hating that I wasn’t there,” he confessed.
Snoop Dogg, who collaborated with Kendrick on “To Pimp a Butterfly”, also raved about the show on social media. “That was beautiful…unified…K. Dot, you are the King of the West!” DJ Quik would likely agree, despite his tears of sadness and happiness.
The “Pop Out” show was a testament to the power of music and unity, and DJ Quik’s emotional response shows how much it resonated with him. Even from afar, the show brought the West Coast hip-hop community together, and that’s something to celebrate.”
