Title: Drake Playfully Jabs at Metro Boomin’ Using “Drumline” in Ongoing Beef
In the heat of his feud with Future and Metro Boomin’, Drake cleverly references the HBCU film “Drumline” to tease the renowned producer.
Drake’s penchant for petty jibes during rap beefs is well-known among fans. In his latest spat with Metro Boomin’ and Future, he unearthed a hidden rivalry that surfaced with the release of their joint project, “We Don’t Trust You,” on March 22nd. The track “Like That” featuring Kendrick Lamar subtly aimed barbs at Drake, sparking the tension.
In retaliation, Drake dropped a diss track titled “Push Up (Drop & Give Me 50),” taking shots at every artist who has crossed him in recent weeks. Notably, his dig at Metro Boomin’ included the line, “Metro, shut your h*e-a** up and make some drums, n*gga.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Drake took to Instagram to share a clip from “Drumline,” featuring Nick Cannon as “Devon Miles.” Ingeniously, the clip mirrored Metro Boomin’s situation, as Miles recalls the cadence instead of reading sheet music, a subtle nod to their rivalry.
The video cleverly superimposed Metro Boomin’s face onto Nick Cannon’s, intensifying the playful jab. Ironically, Metro Boomin’ has ties to HBCUs, having attended Morehouse in 2011 before pursuing his music career.
Drake’s connection to HBCUs was highlighted in 2022 when he surprised fans at the joint Morehouse and Spelman Homecoming concert, supporting headliner 21 Savage. Despite the seriousness of the beef, Drake’s nod to an HBCU classic in his shade to Metro Boomin’ adds a touch of humor to the ongoing feud.
